Dr A. Ismail is a Consultant Gynecologist and Obstetrician who has studied and practiced around the world. He is the director and proprietor of Queens Gynecology Clinic, Harley Street, where he has been successfully treating and operating on patients for 25 years. Dr Ahmed Ismail began his medical career in 1972 at Al Azhar University in Egypt as House Officer, quickly moving to Resident Registrar University Staff Member in 1973 in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department, followed by Resident Registrar in Jeddah Maternity Hospital from 1974 - 1975. In 1975, Dr Ismail moved to the UK to further develop his interest and specialist training in Obstetrics, Gynecology and Infertility. During this time, he worked at many of the UK’s leading teaching hospitals including Nottingham University, St Georges, Kings College, Guys and St Mary’s working alongside leading consultants including The Queen’s Gynecologist - Sir George Pinker, who was also the president of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Mr TLT Lewis (author of many Gynecology books) and also Mr J Tomkinson at Guys, who at the time was the Secretary General of FIGO (Federation of International Gynecologists and Obstetricians) and supervisor to Dr Ismail’s PhD Thesis. In 1983, Dr Ismail was working as a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hereford, Barnett General Hospital and finally St Mary’s Hospital, London. In 1983, he opened The Queens Gynecology Clinic in Queensway and Harley Street, and then he took over the private consulting rooms of Sir George Pinker at 96 Harley Street (Queens Clinic). As well as his private practice, Dr Ismail has continued to operate as a consultant at a number of leading London private hospitals. In 1992 the President of Egypt visited the UK seeking top professionals to build a state-of-the-art hospital. Mr Ismail was invited to implement the project using the latest technology in the field of Obstetrics, Gynecology, Endoscopic Operative Surgery, Infertility and IVF. The project started in the heart of Cairo near the river Nile and was called Hawwa International Hospital. Situated in Dokki, it was close to major transport links, city landmarks and the research and diagnostic facilities of the leading private hospitals. The hospital was to be a centre of excellence for obstetrics, gynecology and infertility treatment and was opened in September 1994 by the Egyptian Prime Minister at the time, Dr. Atef Sedky. Also in attendance were the Minister for Health and Cairo’s Mayor, along with a host of the country’s leading medical and political figures. This was an unprecedented turnout in the history of such events, and has not been repeated since. Mr Ismail and the hospital has since been treating leading figures across the Arab world including royalty, celebrities and politicians and embassy personel. The Hospital is accredited by all the major insurance companies such as AXA PPP. As An International Expert and the Head of Maternity and Gynecology in the new Hawwa Hospital, Mr Ismail used his specialist training in IVF, Laser Laparoscopy and all routine Gynecology and Obstetric methods to carry out normal, instrumental and operative delivery, in addition to managing every conceivable emergency procedure. The hospital treated a very large number of patients with excellent records of success. Mr Ismail was subsequently awarded the certificate of Specialist (Consultant) in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Egyptian Medical Council. In 1994 he was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian British Hospital, Cairo, and Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Unit. In this role Mr Ismail was additionally responsible for organizing symposiums and giving lectures as well as providing training for junior doctors. Such was the interest in this groundbreaking project, Mr Ismail was in constant demand for comment and undertook a large number of educational interviews in the leading medical journal. Additionally, he featured across the worldwide news, mainstream TV, radio, magazines and newspapers. Today Dr Ismail continues to fulfill this role alongside his position at Queens Clinic in Harley Street, where he treats both a UK and International clientele in all areas of Gynecology and Obstetrics, offering excellence of service in complete maternity care, infertility treatment and all aspects of women’s and sexual health. He also works as a Private Consultant at both The Wellington and Portland Hospitals in London. Queens Clinic Harley is also the satellite operation for IVF for the Lister IVF Unit, and has one of the highest success rates in the country. Throughout his career, Dr Ismail has continually undertaken further study and specialist training to develop his qualifications, skills and experience in some of the most intricate and complex of treatments in his field, travelling the world as he continues to strive to remain at the forefront of all the major medical developments in Gynecology and Obstetrics.
